According to information from Axios, TikTok is testing a new recruitment tool to help jobseekers – mainly generation Z, to create a CV in a shorter video format in order to make it more easy for young people to apply for jobs and get in touch with potential employers.
As early as in March, the Washington Post noted that Generation Z used TikTok to discuss jobs and careers, shortly afterwards Jena McGregor wrote this in the Washington Post:
“TikTok, widely known for 15-second videos of cranberry juice-drinking skateboarders, group dance challenges and recipes for tomato and feta pasta or carrot bacon, is fast emerging as a force in the job search ecosystem at a time when unemployment remains high, a new generation looks for their first jobs and pandemic isolation leads to hours of mindless scrolling”
It will work as a recruitment channel for companies and it’s not going to be integrated with the TikTok app itself – all job advertisements will be a separate website. TikTok will initially ask their users if they want to add a resume video to their profile to expose the new service. So far, the recruitment tool is in beta testing by some selected companies to then evaluate it and see if it should be opened up for more brands.
