The last few weeks have introduced a number of updates and new features that affect the social media landscape. We have selected and summarized the most important and most interesting thing you should know. Everything from scheduling posts on Instagram to the brand new Spectacles from Snapchat.

Schedule Instagram posts with Creator Studio.

Finally! Facebook has made it possible to schedule posts to Instagram without relying on a third party service. The new feature is made available through Creator Studio which lets you manage your content for both Facebook and Instagram. The feature has been rolling out to users over the last couple of weeks and should now be available for anyone.

To schedule a post on Instagram. Head to Creator Studio and create a new post by uploading your photo. Click the arrow next to the blue publish button and select Scheduele.

Snapchat introduces the next version of Spectacles.

Following the second generation of Spectacles, Snapchat now introduces Spectacles 3.

“Spectacles 3 are built with a strong, lightweight steel frame and circular lenses. Two HD cameras on either side of the frame capture depth and dimension the way your eyes do, and power new augmented reality creative tools to enhance your Snaps.”

Pinterest introduces more ways to discover inspiring videos and updates video features.

During the summer Pinterest have been hard at work updating och improving its video functionality and user experience. Alongside a new updated and seamless video uploader and lifetime video analytics for marketers a new video tab for business profiles has been introduced. This new video tab makes it possible for brands to feature videos in one place for added discovery.

Businesses and creators can now also schedule video posts with the new Pin Scheduler Tool.

Anyone can now create and publish their own AR effects on Instagram.

Earlier this year, at the Facebook F8 Conference it was announced that the closed beta of Spark AR would move out and end. Following this statement, Facebook has now made Spark AR available to the public as the project moves to an open beta. This means that you can create and publish your own AR effects and filters, much like Snapchats Lens Studio which has been available for some time.

Snapchat introducing Instant Create.

Snapchat introduce Instant Create, an easy way for advertisers to create ads in three simple steps. Just select your objective (increase web visits, app installs, or app visits), enter your business website and finalize your targeting. Then you’re ready to publish! This means, when creating a campaign in Snapchat Ads Manager, you have the option to choose Instant Create or Advanced Create. While Advanced Create is a great way to create multiple Ad Sets, Instant Create is a simplified way to create a campaign with a single Ad.

Features include:

  • For web visits, simply input your business URL and Instant Create will pull in photos directly from your website to help create your ad.
  • You have the option of choosing from one of the imported images or uploading a new one from your computer, allowing you to quickly set up your campaigns without having to search for a creative.
  • Instant Create includes a streamlined ad creation flow that leverages our most popular templates and simplified ad detail options, enabling you to publish engaging creative without additional design resources.

Pinterest introducing ads on the go.

Pinterest launching Mobile Ad Tools, a feature that gives businesses the ability to easily create and manage Pinterest ad campaigns on a mobile device, at any time. With the ease of Mobile Ad Tools, businesses get simplified ad creation with consolidated targeting options, taking the guesswork out of setting up Promoted Pins.

A few of the features within the mobile ad tools include adjusting budgets and targeting, pausing an ad, editing the URL destination and the campaign name. Other metrics available in Mobile Ad Tools include advertising spend, remaining campaign duration, impressions, clicks, click-through rate and saves.
